Beim Lesen, Schreiben und Zeichnen dieses Kapitels habe ich so viel gegähnt! Das glaubt ihr gar nicht! Bei mir hat die Gähnansteckung jedenfalls auch ohne soziale Anreize funktioniert. 😉

Vielleicht seid ihr genauso verwundert darüber, wie ich, dass die Idee zum Gasaustausch im Blut so alt ist. Tatsächlich beschrieb der niederländische Mediziner Johannes de Gorter in seinem Buch De Perspiratione insensibili (1725) das erste Mal die Vermutung, dass Gähnen das Blut schneller ins Gehirn fließen und es dort anreichern lasse (nach Walusinski, 2013). Hieraus wurde schließlich die Sauerstoffhypothese entwickelt, die sich über zwei Jahrhunderte lang gehalten hat.
